The Ring

I think it was quite a long time ago that I've posted a post in my blog. It was once become something that I am obsessed in doing but lately I become quite bored of it. But I don't know what strikes me, suddenly today I have the urge to start writing again in my blog.

Short story short, at the end of 2014, Popeye (now my fiancé) came to my parents house to ask if he is allowed to propose to me in the beginning of January 2015. The proposal that Popeye gave to me is not what I imagine it to be. There were no ring. No romantic scenery. No "standing on his knee". Such a failed Cinderella Story... >.<

What he did is what Indonesian man in the 80's do to their women. ASK DIRECTLY TO THE PARENTS. Oh well... I'm happy that at least he have the courage to do it.

So we set our engagement day to be done on the 4th of January 2015.

My parents were so detailed in preparing my engagement ceremony. My fiancé and I were unfortunately extremely busy during the end of 2014. So we've forgotten to prepare one important thing.. THE RING....

Just a couple of days before the engagement day, we were panicking since we haven't got the ring yet. So we browse through the internet to find the best place in Jakarta to find the ring. Popeye also helped by asking his colleague in the office where they bought the wedding ring. And we decided to buy the ring in Bikini Gold Centre.

We took the train to Cikini. When we arrived at Bikini, we were extremely happy to find that the Cikini Gold Centre is just right across the Cikini Train Station.

When we enter the Cikini Gold Centre, we have no idea about which shop to go to. Many small gold shops were at the location. So we decided to take a look at the 3rd floor of the building. We at first assume that the shops that are not located in the main floor will have the best price. But actually, we were wrong. The higher we go, the more unpleasant the shop is. We directly decided to go back to the main floor.

We went to one shop at first. I forgot the name of the shop. The rings sold there were so beautiful. The owner is also nice enough to give us detail information about their product. Unfortunately, we cannot find the right ring. The ring that we like that fits perfectly to our extremely chubby fingers. The owner offered us to make a custom design for our ring. But we cannot do that since our engagement day were just a few days ahead.

Another thing that we found as a problem is that me and him wanted different ring. I want my ring to be covered in pure white gold with a diamond statement on it. He in reverse, strictly wanted the ring to be made from Palladium (since muslims man are not allowed to wear gold at any form).

So we search around and finally land to our final destination to shop. The shop is called "HARMONY". It is located in the ground floor of the Cikini Gold Centre. The shop it self is located quite at the the very back of the floor.

Short story short, we both fell in love with a pair of wedding ring. We asked the shop attendance if the ring is made from diamond. She said yes for the ladies ring. But then she added by apologising that the man ring is not gold. It is Palladium. Popeye stares at me with a very big smile and directly ask the shop attendance to take out the ring for us to try.

We tried it and it fits us both perfectly. In Indonesian, we called it "jodoh". In Javanese, we called it "pulling". It was such a serendipity. What meant to be, will meant to be. We hugged. Then he pay for the ring.

In addition, the price of the rings were also fitted with our budget perfectly. And the owner were also nice enough to give a free engraved service for our ring. My name is written on his ring. His name is written on my ring.

Love love love.
