[UNBOXING] Affordable Korean Cosmetics From Althea


In my previous article, I have posted my experience shopping in Althea, an online platform that sells Korean cosmetics and skin care at an affordable price. I was overly excited to open the package, especially because of the great packaging they present.



I've bought 4 main items that was an "editor picks" in their website. I am quite not well informed about current Korean beauty trends, so I've just ordered those that were recommended by the editor of Althea.

ITEMS PURCHASED:

1. It's My Perfume Hand Cream



My hands are currently very dry. So I was so tempted to buy these hand cream. These hand cream was detailed to be moisturising without greasing your hand. It comes in 4 options of fragrance. For my purchase, I've decided to choose "Sugar Day" and "Honey Berry". Each of these hand cream was sold for IDR.28.000 in Althea.

2. Mamie Blue Pack Mask From B&Soap



This mask was recommended by the editors of Althea because of it's soothing effect and it's ability to purify pores. I've decided to purchase this because of it's peppermint scent (I'm a big fan of peppermint). The mask looks like the dupe of Lush Face mask. The Mamie Blue Pack was sold for IDR.158.000 in Althea.

3. Under-arm Perfume Peeling Pads



I am never confident with my armpits. My skin is super sensitive and I am allergic to my own sweat. This leads to making parts of my body that tend to sweat to become dark, especially on my armpits area. Of course, this product just sold me in seconds! Plus, it was on SALE! This was sold for IDR.90.000 for 6 packs.

4. Get It Dual Brow Pencilcara in Natural Brown



I am not great when it comes to creating a sleek looking eyebrow. It always took me ages to make a "quite good" eyebrow. So I've always like to try new options of Eyebrow tools. This product has eyebrow pencil that are retractable and an eyebrow mascara in one items. In Althea, this was sold for IDR.125.000.

HOW MUCH I PAY IN TOTAL



I was actually supposed to pay IDR429.000 for all of my order. But I've received a discount of IDR.100.000 because of coupon, and an additional discount of IDR.5.600 because of first purchase. I did not have to pay any shipping fee since I've purchased the product in their promotional session where free shipping was applied for every purchase above IDR.300.000. So, in total, I only have to pay IDR.323.400 for all of my purchases. Great deal huh???!!!!!

Although they are sold in a crazy discount price, they claim their product to be 100% authentic with a money-back guarantee. The best price is offered because the website claims that each product were from the main producers in Korea. Thus, what we pay will be the best price offered.

Althea Indonesia: Refund Policy

If we are not satisfied with the product, they also offered a 30 days refund policy. Although if we conduct a refund we have to pay the shipping payment to Korea, however they will return back the shipping payment a maximum of IDR.25.000 that will be given in the form of shopping vouchers that we can use for our future shopping.

In this article, I would tell you guys my likes and dislikes about shopping in this website.

LIKES

1. Variety of Product

They such a huge variety of product! Most of them are product that I've never heard of in Indonesia. Because of that, it is very fun to try them!

2. Ease of Payment

The payment options is well varied. There is a possibility to shop although you don't have a credit card. Debit card is also accepted. For the Indonesian website, we can also pay through the nearest Alfamart. What you need to do is to just click on the payment options that you prefer best in the checkout payment.

3. Price and Money Converter

Since the website is modified according to countries, the price presented in the Indonesian website has been converted directly to Indonesian Rupiah. So unlike other international website, in Althea, we don't have to be crazily confused with converting the currency of the price we need to pay. We don't also have to worry much about the currency rate since it has been counted automatically by the website.

4. Discounts and Bonuses

Almost all of their product are discounted! Not just the splurged of the crazy discount, customers are also welcomed with a free IDR.100.000 voucher upon signing-up to the website. This voucher could be used without any minimum order. If we're lucky, they also like to send free samples along with our orders. What a bargain!

5. Free Shipping

If we the product that we've ordered worth more than IDR.500.000, we can get a free shipping from Korea to our door. When I purchased through the website, there is a promotion session that customers could receive free shipping for IDR.300.000 worth of shopping. I cannot be more happy for this!

The packaging was great!!! It comes in a beautiful pink box covered with Shocking Pink plastic. Each product was also protected with bubble wraps to ensure that each product does not break apart.

DISLIKES

1. Shipping Options and Delivery

During the checkout process, I could not find any shipping options. Unlike any other international shopping websites that allows customer to choose their shipping options from the fastest to the slowest shipping options. 

2. Handling Time

The handling time took a while. It took more than 1 week since I conduct payment to the day I received a notification that my orders has been shipped. That is too long in my personal opinion! I've put my order on Saturday, 14 May 2016, and received my tracking number on Tuesday, 24 May 2016. However, the shipping time was quite fast, counted since the day I've received my tracking number. I've received my package on Saturday, 28 May 2016.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Will I repurchase again from Althea? Definitely YES!!! I love the quality of the product and also the great packaging. The price is a bargain, compared to when purchasing in Indonesia.

Bangkok Trip: Chatuchak Weekend Market

When my husband and I were planning for our Bangkok trip, we've made one ultimate promise. (((We will not shop))). But oh come on... You know that it is impossible to do when you visit Bangkok right??? They sell the best price for garments, fashion, and decoration. So we broke the promise... We visit the Chatuchak Weekend Market >.<

We received the recommendation to visit the Chatuchak Weekend Market from my best friend who has been living in Bangkok for quite a long time but currently living in the UK. She said that the Chatuchak Market is only open during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday). So if we happen to stay in Bangkok during the weekends, this market is a must to visit.

Buying Thai Silk and Fabrics

The market itself is very accessible. We can just go to Mo Chit BTS Station. The market is just right across the station, a five minute walk from the station. The Chatuchak Weekend Market is so big. It is almost impossible to go through every single corner of the market in one day. The market also sells many different things from fashion, food, souvenirs, arts and crafts, until animals and pets.

You will be super surprised with the price offered in Chatuchak Weekend Market. It is ridiculously cheap!!!! Just be careful not to spend too much in this market since the temptation to buy everything we see in this market is very high.

One thing that I adore from this market (aside from its super affordable price) is the sellers. The sellers can speak simple english conversation so it is very easy to communicate or bargain. Remember that in order to be able to get the best price, we have to bargain in this market. But just in case we don't bargain, the starting price is already affordable.

With all the hype and happiness visiting the Chatuchak Weekend Market, there are several things that we need to be aware from. First is the peak hours. The Chatuchak Weekend Market is not fully supported with air conditioner. So if we come during lunch time and peak hours, it will be hell hot! My husband and I came to Chatuchak Weekend Market at around 09:00 AM. I think it is perfect. Although several shops are not open yet during the time, but most shops are already open. There are not too many person during this time. We finished our shopping experience at around 11:00 AM. That is when the crowds started coming. Second is the pickpockets. The Chatuchak Weekend Market can be very crowded. Just be aware of the pickpockets. My tips for this case is to bring just enough money to shop. Then put it in a very small wallet separately from the main wallet. This will prevent us from continuously opening the main wallets that have all our credit cards in it. Other than the two things to be aware of, the rest is fine. Just enjoy the shopping!

Culinary Experience at Chatuchak Weekend Market

Street food is also one of the ultimate attraction in Chatuchak Weekend Market. There are many tasty food that we must try! One of them is the vegetable spring-rolls with sweet Thai chilly sauce sold in the street just before the main entrance. It super tasty and affordable. Only 20 Baht (around IDR.8000) per portion (6 spring rolls). Another must try food is the coconut ice cream. This is the culinary star of Chatuchak Weekend Market.

The Green Food Stalls Selling Coconut Ice Cream

There are many stalls selling the Coconut Ice cream. But the legendary one is the green food stalls with coconut hanging on it. To reach this stall, just enter the main entrance of Chatuchak Weekend Market. Go straight until you reach another road. Turn left on that road. The green food stalls will be somewhere along that road.

Coconut Ice Cream

With only 40 Baht to spend (about IDR.16.000) to spend, we can get a very delicate and rich coconut ice cream, coconut fruit shred, two toppings, and one glass of refreshing pure coconut water. The taste of the coconut ice cream is quite similar to the Indonesian Es Puter. The ice cream is very rich in flavour. I highly recommend the Nata De Coco (coconut cubes) as the toppings. It is damn good!

So the highlight of our visit to the Chatuchak Weekend Market is that if you promise yourself not to shop during your stay in Bangkok, please reconsider it. If not, you will regret it. Lol

[REVIEW] - BH Cosmetics Pop Art Brush Set (10 Brushes)

Last May, BH Cosmetics went on a super Mothers Day Sale. I checked one of the online store in Indonesia that I usually shop at to see if they are open for Pre Orders of the BH Cosmetics. If you are curious, check out @mymakeupid instagram account. So far, they sell the cheapest authentic imported make up in Indonesia. Short story short, I decided to buy the BH Cosmetics Pop Art Brush Set.

Disappointed With The Curls :(

I am one out of millions of Indonesian who really rarely watch television. Instead of watching the telly everyday, I spend my days watching Youtube videos instead. Anything from daily vlogs, make up tutorials, beauty tips, until cooking videos.

So as I was watching ItsJudyTime tutorial and vlogs, she was using heated hair rolls that makes her hair looks very stunning in an instant time. I really like curling my hair with a hot curling iron. But it takes a lots of time and effort of doing it. So as I stopped by a video tutorial on curling hair with a heated hair rolls, I instantly fall in love with it.

Craving For Lipstain

While people in normal usually crave for food, I go in a quite unusual way of craving for Lipstain. Well, I am a make up addict since about 3 years ago. 

The product in particular that I am craving for is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. I heard many great reviews on them and I am dying to try them out. Reviews from many beauty gurus said that the product works like a lipstain but it is more easily applied. It is also moisturising for the lips as it slides of just like a lip balm. So no wonder they name the product as a "Balm Stains".

E.L.F Likes and Dislikes: Free Gift Package

Today I woke up with a total mood booster. As what I have said in my previous post, I am waiting for the free gift that ELF would give me as a present because I am their 325.000 customer who "likes" their Facebook Page. Today I receive the package which is way above my expectation. Since it is a free gift, I was only expecting to receive several sample packs of their product. Surprisingly they give me a box of full original content make up(11 pieces of make up). Yayyy..!!!! So Happy...!!!!

So, in total there were about 11 pieces of make up that they deliver to me. I tried them all on already today. Overall, I am happy with what they give me because all the tone colors they give is a natural color that actually fits to my Asian skin tone. Some products are outstanding, but some are actually not recommendable. So this post I will also write about the product review from the product I like most to the least.

1. ELF Studio Cream Blush in Heartbreaker



The most recommended product from the free package. Two thumbs up for this product. I am very pleased with this product because the color are very pigmented and the pink shimmer added to the blush just make my cheek pop like a doll. The cream blush is very easy to apply since we do not need any brush. The packaging looks so exclusive. It also looks very natural since it is able to blend generously with the foundation and powder which we have already apply before hand. To be honest in my skin I do not find significant problem in this product, but I may not suggest this product for those who have very oily skin.


2. ELF Nail polish in Mint Cream



I love the color. The fresh young milky color just fitted so much with Spring season. The real product is actually a bit darker compared to the color in the picture, but I still like it anyway because the color is so adorable. Being applied to my nail, the coverage of the product is quite good. It is actually comparable to nail polishes that cost higher than this product. However, the liquid is not very thick so it might results better if we double cote this nail polish to make the color more outstanding and long lasting.


3. ELF Lipstick in Charming



I like the natural color of this lipstick. If talking about the color of the lipstick, I have to say that this is one of my favorite color out of the lipstick that I have here in the UK. The least satisfactory things about this lipstick is the texture of it. When applied to the lips, it feels very dry. Perhaps because they wanted to keep it "matte", but compared to the other matte lipstick that I have, this is the "most driest" lipstick I have ever felt. The packaging says "smooth and long lasting coverage". I agree with the "long lasting", but do not agree with "smooth". However, since I love the color so much, I don't want to waste it. So before I put on the lipstick, I will put on thin layer of Vaseline petroleum jelly to reduce the dryness of the lipstick.


4. ELF All Over Color Stick in Honey



This product is intended to treats under eye, blemishes and skin redness. I really like the light and smooth texture of it. It can give a kind of additional glow above my cheek so I can look more fresh. It also have a fresh lemon scent added to it. The only thing that I least satisfied with is coverage. Perhaps because it is very light, that is why their coverage is not too thick. For skin like mine which have lots of acne scars, I may need thicker coverage to cover the scars. However, because of its lightness in my skin, I will definitely use this for my daily usage.


5. ELF All Over Color Stick in Golden Peach



First I was actually quite confuse about what to use this product. It is said to be instantly brightens eyes, lips, and face. I search in youtube in several "make up guru" channel to find out what to use with it. I found out that it can be used as eye shadow, blush on, and lipstick. So I try them on. For eye shadow and lipstick is a BIG NO NO. For blush on, the color is so light so it does not result any shadow. At first I hated this product (was thinking of not using it again). But after I experiment with it a bit, I find out that it is actually great to be used as a soft highlighter under the eyes. The soft gold sparkle gives an outstanding glow to my skin.


6. ELF Clarifying Pressed Powder in Honey



The powder is very soft and light. The packaging comes with a petite packaging so it is very handy to bring. The only dislikes about this product is about its inability to be long lasting. Specially for those who is very active outdoor, this might not be recommended.


7. ELF Tone Correcting Concealer in Light Beige



As a concealer, I have to say that it is the lightest concealer I have ever wear. It's a good thing for your skin, but then it does not cover your blemishes too good which means that the concealer does not do what it suppose to do well. The texture is not too creamy also which makes it more difficult to cover up the unwanted spots.


8. ELF All Over Color Stick in Pink Lemonade



This product is actually the same product with the "number 5" list but just in different color. The reason why I put this to be least preferred is because it cannot work as a brilliant highlighter. For eye shadow and lipstick is also a big no no. However, this product works well as a blush on (even though for me, the color is a bit too light for blush on). It's texture is quite similar to a cream blush but it is more moisture. I do not recommend this for oily skin.


9. ELF Natural Radiance Blusher in Coy



I am actually quite loving the Radiance Color Blushes packaging. Small, simple, and handy. I also actually like the texture of the brush which is very pigmented. The only thing that I do not like is the color. I just find it does not make my face looks fresh as expected. But overall, I may wish to buy the natural radiance blusher but in DIFFERENT COLOR.


10. ELF Liquid Eyeliner in Black



I am a big fan of black liquid eye liner. That's why I was very very very excited when I first open the box finding a black liquid eye liner inside it. But, after trying it on, it is very disappointing. First the color is not black enough. Second, it cannot be applied in one swipe so it takes ages for me to properly put it on. Third, the applicator brush is too thin for me. So I cannot say more, but I would not purchase this product in the future.


11. ELF Duo Cream Eyeshadow in Black Licorice



Personally, black is really not my color for eyeshadow. It just does not fit my personality. So this might be the first reason why I put it as my very least preferred. Second, I find it hard to blend. The texture is too moist and creamy so it is very difficult to apply. It feels like putting petroleum jelly on my eye. Third, it does not last long. The color fade easily just in 2 hours. Fourth, it's hard to do experiment with it because of the texture and color. So in conclusion, this product is a big no no for me.


So that is all my review about the product that I received from ELF this morning as a free gift. Overall, I am very happy receiving this gift (who doesn't love free stuff). Even though there are some "misses" in some products, but my satisfaction with the product overlaps my disappointment. I still say that ELF is a highly recommended product to purchase as a daily usage.

What I Buy for Boxing Day


I know it's boxing day where many products are in massive discount. But as what I have said, I have know what I want to buy in boxing day. So I just buy an Amazon Kindle that I need for my study. What's funny is that this product is not for sale or discount in Boxing day. But I buy it anyway since I need it to read journals in a "paper less" way (printing is expensive here for me). I bought this for GBP89 in Argos. Why in Argos? It's the only store selling Kindle that opens on Boxing Day. Kindle is basically an e-book reader. What makes it special is its ability to produce e-book in it's simplicity, meaning that not too much technology attached. It does not produce bright lights so we don't get easily tired when reading the e-book. For me, it's quite a bargain. The product is so slim, light, and energy savvy. It creates convenience in reading. Must have...:*

Boxing Day


In the past, boxing day is just an ordinary one day after Christmas when the wealthy people of the Britain will give a box containing gifts to their servants. Today, as the atmosphere of Christmas has not fade yet, Boxing Day seems to raise the excitement on December for its shopping excitement. Being held just one day after Christmas, Boxing Day is just being adored. People are exited to shop aggressively due to the great big discount every shop offered. It is the time where shops have sales, often with dramatic price reduction.

This shopping moment is also adored by international students like my friends and I. Friends are exited and planning to shop together on this moment of shop. In fact, some of my friends living in a smaller city prefer to stay for some days in a bigger city to achieve better shopping deals. This craziness of sale and discount seems to transform the shopping ego of every individuals becoming irrational.

Living in Glasgow, as one of the big cities in Scotland, I am lucky enough to be able to experience the atmosphere of a great boxing day sale. To be honest, I was not prepared to shop aggressively. I have known already what I wish to buy to avoid my irrational shopping that leads me to broke afterwards. My flat mate however is so exited about this boxing day. She gathers information about which shops got great discounts, and what time each shops opens. It surprise that some shops are even open at 5 am in the morning. God..! Even the sun shines at around 7 in Glasgow.

Anyway, my flat mate went to the city center before 8am. It is also because after hearing my advice not to go there too early. I decided to go a bit late for this sale. So I went out to the city center at around 10am. I arrived at the city center a couple of minutes later. I was not surprise seeing many people bringing big shopping bags filled with many products with massive discount promotion written in their shopping bag. Girls, boys, young, old, all were exited about the sale.

Since I have known already what I want to buy, I decided to just take a walk to many shops to observe the craziness of sale. In Apple Store, I can see many people lining up to enter the store. It seems that this shop limits the amount of people entering the shop to prevent the unexpected things to happen. For ordinary middle brands like New Look, Topshop, H&M, and such, the discounts were not that surprising in my opinion. The products that are sold in discount are also very limited. In addition, the products discounted are the old products that it seems to be needed for them to sell quick. For the clothing line, it seems that "NEXT" offers great discounts. I can see many people in the street carrying a NEXT shopping bag.

The high end products in another hand, offers such a great discounts. Gucci for instance, offers discount up to 50%. The shop are very crowded by many people wanting to buy their high end luxury goods. Mulberry also got great deal. In fact, their stores are nearly empty because people are aggressively buying their products. You can get a Mulberry Alexa for GBP 477 discounted from GBP 795. Damn... If my status is not a student with limited amount of money to spend here, I will definitely buy that bag.
